“I don’t like repeating myself.”

There was no malice or volume to the words, just confidence. If you hadn’t been standing next to him at the bar you wouldn’t have even heard him. He was propped against the marble and cedar, his thick thighs straining against the pants of the well-tailored suit. It was dark, as were his eyes, but even in the dim light of the lounge you could tell it was expensive and custom made for his frame. That tall, massive, and sturdy frame. Your mouth felt dry suddenly and you wished the bartender would hurry up with your drink.

“I’ll make an exception this time. Bring me my money and bring it now.”

This time you heard the bite to his voice. Beneath the beautiful accent that made you tingle a little more than you cared to admit, you could hear what could only be described as a controlled growl. The bartender, one that seemed to be there expressly for his service, gulped and disappeared into a door marked Employees Only. The man, the cowl of anger now dissipated, rotated until his lower back rested against the bar rail, his hand wrapped around a tumbler of amber liquid. He took a sip and the scowl returned. Before you had a chance to draw another breath, the glass in his hand shattered against the bank of liquors neatly arranged behind him. He roared a name, one you couldn’t quite make out through his rage, and the shaky bartender reappeared as pale as a ghost.

“I specifically asked for a double shot of Suntory Hibiki 17 year. This is not that.”

The heavy leather envelope in the shaken man’s hands bulged in his grip. It looked as if he couldn’t lift his eyes, looked as if he was blinded with fear. “We…sir…it is no longer in stock.”

The laughter pushing between a set of beautiful lips was sinister. The calm confidence was back in his voice when he spoke. “I find that to be humorous. Now, I’m sure we both recall when I last visited this hell hole, I ordered a case to be here for my demands and needs. Is that not how our last encounter went, Charles?”

You couldn’t keep your eyes off of the thick digits tapping the cool marble. They were elegant, well-manicured, and made your mouth water. The bark of his voice snapped you back to the present.

“Answer me!”

“You are correct, Mr. Adebayo. It would appear that some of the other staff may have taken it upon themselves to sell it to the general public.”  His gaze still hadn’t lifted.

“If my math is correct? $700 per bottle at six bottles per case. You now owe me an additional $4,200.”

He beckoned with his fingers and the oxblood leather envelope was dwarfed in his palm. “This is all of it?”

He tossed it to a figure behind him, a bulky man with gold slugs and a headful of neatly braided locs. “Count it. If it’s short? I’m taking my pound of flesh and we both know that’s not a figure of speech.”

You felt rooted in place, the drink in front of you now warming amid the quiet chaos of the room. People tried to pretend as if they were not entranced by the power and danger radiating off the man standing next to you.

“Charles, you know I’m very possessive when it comes to things that belong to me.”

You knew his gaze had landed on you when heat spiked in your skin. You met his eyes briefly and saw a measure of desire that you’d never experienced. He stepped closer to you, bringing the spice of his cologne and bass of his voice with him.  One finger glided down your bare arm.

“For example, if this beautiful creature here belonged to me and you dared breathe in her direction? I’d have you scalped. What belongs to me belongs to me no matter how small or large. Do we have an understanding?”

Mr. Adebayo, as you’d heard him called, let his finger travel in the opposite direction against your forearm. From behind him you heard the equally calm voice of his right-hand man tell him the count was correct.

“Sir, can we make an arrangement for the additional funds? A week to gather it perhaps?”

His attention shifted. It was as if a light dimmed in his eyes. “When have you ever known me to cut deals that do not benefit me? You have until the end of the night. Leave it with her. I’ll be back by closing.”

You opened your mouth to protest. He quieted you with a look. “I want to see you here. You don’t want to disappoint me, do you?”

A quick glance over his shoulder let you see the henchmen shake his head in the negative. You relented.

“Good. I’ll see you at 2:00am, beautiful. Give her anything and everything she wants.” And like that he was gone.

Word Count: 8.6K (I feel like it goes quick though)

Warnings: S’mut

Synopsis: A few bad dates have you in the blues, but a stranger comes to you at night when you are most vulnerable, giving you everything you desire in the real world.  But at what cost is his affection?

A/N:  This is one fanfic of a few I plan to put out in theme with the spooky holiday coming up.  I love Halloween and everything tied to it, so I figure writing my Black Panther characters as different horror movie tropes would be fun to do!

“So, then I told the guy, ‘Hey, if you wanted to find holes in the merger, we should swing a few on the green at my local country club.’  I mean, get real, right?”

You smiled modestly as you drank your fourth cocktail for dinner.  You’ve been on the app life of dating for a couple months now, and getting matched wasn’t the issue, but the quality of the product once received was highly lacking.  Your girlfriends had finally convinced you to expand your horizons to the dairy aisle, and as you knew good and gatdamn well, you were left feeling cold.

This guy, Brody, was one of the few white guys that didn’t have a hunting photo as their primary avi, or a group photo with sorority girls at a kegger.  He did have the obligatory activity photos: walking on hikes, climbing a mock rock wall at a gym, sitting contemplatively on a cliff staring at the sunset.  You usually swipe left on those because that just wasn’t your life, but he was cute, had a funny A Different World quote in his bio, and didn’t come off referring you to a dessert that he would love to ruin with his white cock.

So, you gave him a shot, talking to him about his job, social life, hobbies.  But you just couldn’t click with him on a molecular level.  He didn’t ask anything about you, first of all, a sure sign that this was as tedious an ordeal for him as it was for you; or he just was that narcissistic not to notice.  He was a suburban White statistic walking and breathing.  The polo shirt and khakis with Sperrys just made you want to throw your wine at him for indecent basicness.

Your eyes start to cross from his marathon mouth as your vision veers off to the restaurant space behind him.  If he was really paying attention he would notice, but nope, it worked in your favor.

You stare at a TV playing in the bar section, some sports team playing in some final round.  You could care less but it cleansed your metal palette to think of a way to get outta there.  Your instincts send your eyes down to meet the gaze of a rather juicy looking barfly.  His look locked your gaze in place as you admired him from afar.  His expression was ferocious, like killer level ferocious.  But you couldn’t look away, and you didn’t feel scared at all.  His fresh cut, frames his face while giving him a devilish vibe.  And although the bar area was low lit, his skin had a glow that made him appear ethereal.  All the light caught the angles of his face and you would risk life and limb to touch on.

“And then, I did a kind of work study in Tibet…”

As he is describing a moment he had with a monk on a mission trip, you pull your phone out discreetly to open an app to call you.  The call came 30 seconds later.

You get your phone looking at it curiously.  “I’m so sorry, I have to take this.”  You hold a finger up as you listen closely to the automated voice on the other side.

“Ohh, really?  When did this happen?  I told Mark to honor the deadline, what was he thinking??”  You get up with the phone still in your ear.  “I’m sorry Brody, work stuff.  I’ll have to take this, maybe I’ll call you to pick up where we left off?”

Before he could confirm or deny the invitation you left urgently for your ‘work stuff’.  The exit was near the bar, and as you walked into the area, your eyes caught the mysterious patron again.  You wink at him, smiling to yourself as you continue to leave out of the restaurant.

Ashes from the chopped Jabari wood floated through the chimney and out towards the darkened sky, disappearing before it reached the stars. The contents of the large fireplace crackled with intensity, it’s burnt orange flames danced with grace, warming anything in it’s range. A grand bear-skin rug rested in the middle of the spacious bedroom before the fireplace, cushion to the two bodies occupying it.

“Just one more, usana..” His lips grazed your ear, sending a chill down your spine. You cursed, letting your nails trail along his back. He released a growl at the faint stinging of your scratches, welcoming them if that meant he could stay in this moment. “Give me one more.”

His fingers dug into the meaty flesh of your thigh, his hips meeting yours in a steady rhythm. He placed soft kisses along your jaw, moving yo your neck. A thin layer of swear covered your bodies from the shared body heat, though neither of you seemed to mind.

“Please…” Your voice was soft, the words barely audible. Legs shaking from sweet torture, you were in pure bliss. If it wasn’t for his face being nestled in the bend of you neck, he wouldn’t have heard you. The squelching of your walls hugging him sounded against the silent atmosphere around you both. “B-Baku!!”

“Hmm?” He hummed at your babbling, lifting himself for deeper strokes. His large hands held the back of your thighs for leverage, allowing him more control. All of the days frustrations were being released, wiping his mind of the tasks he had outside of this moment. You eased his mind. “I feel you hugging me, my queen.. Cum with daddy.”

His strokes became sloppy, low animalistic growls escaped him. Those dark orbs of his were low, yet they focused on you. You pressed your palms flat against his chest. He watched your face twist in pleasure as you spilled over him, your thighs shaking from overstimulation. A few more thrusts gained his release, pulling a lengthy groan from him.

You both shared a brief kiss before he wiped your stray tears with his thumb. His large frame rolled off of you onto the softness of the fur beneath you. Catching your breath, a comfortable silence found it’s place. A smile tugged at the corner of your full lips, the daze of the moment not yet slipping away. M’Baku placed a hand on your round backside, rubbing it soothingly as if to apologize for the spanking you received earlier.

“Are you ok, little one?” His baritone voice to tickled your insides. You nodded against his chest, feeling him chuckle at your lack of words. He placed a kiss on your forehead, playing with the dark coils that escaped your silk scarf. Your eyelids were heavy, causing them to flutter as you fought sleep. “Let’s get you to bed, my love.”

He eased your head from his chest so he could stand. The sheet slipped from him, exposing him in all his glory. His large arms flexed as he picked you up the rug, letting your head rest on his broad chest. You lazily glanced at him, fighting off a yawn. “But I’m not sleepy..”

It was a lie, of course. He could see that it was, your voice groggy with tiredness. But you wanted to stay up to enjoy him a bit longer, this being the only real time to enjoy him. Since he’d been working with T’Challa, his duties required him to be busy most of the time.

You relaxed against the sheets after he placed you down onto the king sized mattress, awaiting him to join you. He washed your face with a warm wash cloth, gently removing the makeup he ruined more than half an hour ago before he slid on your forgotten bonnet. Giving him a lazy smile, you thanked him before he finally joined you beneath the cozy sheets.

The howling cold that surrounded the world outside your home had no change against him. You hugged his torso as best as you could, his long arm rested over you in his usual protective manner. That’s all it took for you to finally drift off, body gently rising and falling in comfort. He smirked at the sight. And you claimed you weren’t sleepy. You would be taunted by his harmless jokes on the situation in the morning. “Goodnight, my love.”

Meeting Request

This is my plus-size reader back again. She has heard of the incredible military leader, M’Baku, but he has some unexpected attributes that take her by surprise. Who knew a meeting could bring so much…more?

I pull a lot of this from my life and being bored in meetings. Have you every fully day-dreamed in a meeting? What if….well, just keep reading.

If you want to check out my other fiction, it’s all on my M’Baku Masterlist.  I hope you enjoy.

Client Engagement

She was bored in the conference room, awaiting her next meeting, clicking he pen against her pad of paper. She had prepared all of her notes and was convinced she could impress this new client with ease. She became smarter in tough situations.

For today’s occasion, she wore her cutest suit that accentuated her curves and a pair of heels that showed off her long shapely legs. It was a winning combination. With her cute cat-eye glasses and flawless makeup, she was ready. She had the “cute, curvy black girl” look down. She knew she needed to land this client or her promotion was in danger. She knew she was good, but hooking this client was a big deal. She brought her somewhat goofy male assistant along to take notes. He was charming and she was always surprised when clients thought he was the decision-maker, not her. He had an Associates and she had two Masters’ degrees.

As head of the defense ministry in Wakanda, her next client was a formidable soldier. She knew that he would ask her questions to ensure that she was prepared; a challenge she anxiously awaited. She was very smart, her long braids pulled back into a smart bun. Her years of analysis had taught her that she had to look the part twice as much to be respected by a man, likely 4 times for a Jabari man- a masculine culture that she was curious about. She was often thought to be a cheeky, outspoken American woman, but didn’t mind the challenge. She had her corporate armor on and was ready for the outspoken, Jabari General-turned statesman.

As she sipped on her cool glass of water, she visualized the end of the meeting, full handshake, and all smiles. She reassured herself again that she had this down. She looked at her watch one more time, wondering where this man could be and silently judged his lateness. “Another man using his power to get what he wants,” she thought.

She was jolted out of her thoughts quickly.

“Please rise for the Honorable M’Baku, Great Gorilla, undefeated in battle, father to the Jabari,” a breathy female voice said. Then, 3 large-shouldered men in tailored black suits entered the room. They had earpieces and sunglasses and were unsmiling. “If this is the appetizer, then what is the main course?” she thought silently, with the briefest of smiles breaking on her full lips.

“Please rise for Lord M’Baku.” You stood up and tapped your assistant on the shoulder. In his notes, you could see that he had written “so many snacks” at the top. You glared at him briefly and he rose with a half grin, bashfully.

You kicked yourself for not looking at pictures of the Jabari lord beforehand. He was tall and entered the room with an Obama-like swagger, but modified for his large, imposing (exciting) form. His warm smile and tall stature overwhelmed you for a moment. You had to catch your breath. Lord M’baku was a sight to behold. He was in a military uniform, black suit with the Jabari symbol on one arm. The pin of a Gorilla mask was small on his label, signifying his tribal rank. His 6′5″ frame was framed perfectly in his suit, accentuating his broad shoulders (that you wanted to squeeze) and he smelled…just good. Your biggest challenge would be overcoming his easy grin and the fact that he was your type…in every way.

“Please sit down.” All of this formality for nothing. If the lady would please sit first, I would be so honored.” He smiled at you, his deep baritone voice music in your ears and he held out his hand for you to sit. You hated taking orders but found yourself in a chair quickly face-to-face with the leader. Your defenses were completely down.

“Have we taken good care of you?” He asked. “Oh yes,” you smiled, thinking of the many other ways he could take care of you, but you were here for business…and only business.

He leaned back in the big executive chair right across from you. “So, you are the smart businesswoman I’ve heard so much about. How short can we make this meeting?”

“Well, I have a comprehensive deck.”

He raised an eyebrow and leaned forward. “How about this? Your reputation is impeccable and I like you. Pitch me in 5 minutes. That’s all the time that I need.”

“Ok. This deal is a win for you. Here’s one slide outlining everything.” as you slid it across the table “I have a 95% record of success and land huge profits for all my clients.”

“I don’t know why I like you or trust you, but the deal is done. Have your assistant work up the specifics and let’s get moving. I just have one condition, he said..making clear eye contact with you. “Clear the room.” “I said ‘clear it.” he bellowed.

His bodyguards moved with lightning speed, noteworthy for men of their size. One of them motioned towards your assistant and you gave the go-ahead. Before you knew it, you were face to face with the Jabari lord-alone, your nose full of his alluring scent, your eyes beholding his glory, and your ears listening intently to him. You were clutching the chair with all your might to not melt into a puddle.

“Two conditions: first, I want to be your only client. Can that happen? I’m selfish, and I don’t like to share.”

“Can you afford my entire team?” you asked.

“Yes. Money is no object.”

“What’s in it for me?” you peered over your glasses

“The chance to make me a lot of money.”

“I may be sold, but I’m not sure.”

“Look. Other firms would kill for this.” He leaned in and put his hands on the table his imposing form towering over you.

“I’m not other firms I’ll try it for 6 months. After that, I’ll open-source my secrets -it’s all risk for you.”

“Second, have dinner with me tonight.” Your face flushed. You knew you looked good, but you also knew the Jabari lord drove the women crazy. You wanted to be known for your skills at work, not your other skills (of which you had many).

“I’m afraid I…”

“Look. I don’t bite. It’s just dinner.” He said with a wide, beautiful smile.

You looked at him bashfully and but your lip. “I can do dinner, but what about…”

“I’ll have my assistant cancel your appointments. I’m sure they will understand.”

A deal and a date, you thought to yourself. This turned out much better than you had planned.

“Meet me at the Ritz-Carlton in 2 hours.”

Best Intentions

You arrived at the Ritz Carlton in a little black dress- you always packed one, and a pair of heels with leopard trim. You added a scarf for a little glam, but no cleavage as you didn’t want to sell more than your business skills. You took a deep breath -you knew this dress hugged in all the right places.

When you arrived at the front desk, the bellman recognized you. “Are you the dinner guest of Lord M’Baku? “Yes, I am.” “Great. Go to the desk at the far end.

When you went to the standalone desk, you gave your name, and the woman at the desk smiled. “We’re so glad you’re here.” Please follow me.

She took you to a private elevator on the other side of the extensive lobby. We’re thrilled you could join us this evening. “Do I need to push a button?” “No. This elevator is penthouse only. “What did you get yourself into?” you thought

You were nervous in the glass-paneled elevator, but it went to the 23rd floor of the hotel. When you stepped off of the elevator, you couldn’t believe your eyes. This was the entire 27th floor of the hotel, with their very own concierge, who greeted you. “Welcome. We’ve been expecting you. Please follow me.” a concierge beckoned, smiling knowingly at you.

You walked through the lobby to another door and she unlocked a room. You were a little nervous, but when the door opened, you were in an expansive dining room. The Gorilla pin that M’Baku had worn earlier had life-size replicas in the dining room, and a round, wooden table greeted you. “Please be seated while we inform him that his guest has arrived.”

Wow. His very own floor? suite? dining room? You looked at the pictures on the wall and assumed they were of Jabari-land. The table was set with an ornate arrangement and red and white bottles of wine were on the table as well.

You stood as Lord M’Baku entered, again, smelling amazing. “Please sit, dear.” He flashed that brilliant smile at you again and you awkwardly sat. “Did you find everything ok?”

“I did. This is so nice.” I really appreciate the invitation.

“The pleasure is all mine. “I’m so fortunate to have a nice young woman such as yourself join me for dinner.” I’m so impressed by you, and I’m glad we’ll be working together. Enough about work. Tell me about you. He leaned in and you wanted him to come closer, but you caught yourself, just in time.

How will I ever close this deal, you asked yourself, as the door closed behind you.

M’Baku looked at you in your adorable black dress. “You look very nice,” he said somewhat bashfully. “Thank you. I clean up well.” He didn’t respond, but the twinkle in his eye suggested that he agreed.

You slowly sipped your white wine and appreciated M’Baku’s form. “Thank you for the invitation,” you said. “I’m always happy to entertain guests. You were a formidable negotiator today. Your reputation preceded you, but I was impressed.”

“I’m not usually this informal with my clients,” you said. M’Baku chuckled “You haven’t seen the might of the Jabari firsthand, then.” You knew that was a famous Jabari tagline and laughed lightly.

Your were feeling slightly flushed and your eyes became lidded. You felt your shoulders loosen and you took down your hair. You engaged in conversation with M’Baku and felt yourself start to relax.

He smelled so good. Although M’Baku had started across the table, he was suddenly sitting next to you. You chuckled at him a little too much and he was right there. His body and broad chest were within striking distance. You started to laugh too hard at his jokes and touch him too much. It felt so lovely.

“Is this how your close deals, in that black dress”? He asked. “Not at all. You would have worked with me regardless.” “How can you be so sure?” “There’s no one better.” It’s that simple.

M’Baku bit his lip, impressed with your confidence. “You know why I invited you here, right?” “I’m not sure, actually.” “Well, I want all of you.”

“That’s not for sale, sir.” you said, indignant.

“It’s ok.” he moved closer, brushing your cheek. “You are a very beautiful woman. Why are you single?”

This question irritated you more than most. “I’m not sure.” It was the truth. Somehow, you were too awkward, too nerdy, always too something.

“Let me tell you something.” “What is that?” “In my country, you would be a queen. You’re one of the smartest people -man or woman -that I’ve ever met.” I’d be lucky to have someone like you.

“Really”? You said softly. All of your confidence in the boardroom was inverted around men.

“Jabari men don’t stutter.” With that, M’Baku closed the distance between you and kissed you. It was a long, lingering kiss -the kind of kiss that was an invitation and a warning at the same time. It was sweet, but with a hint of danger. You wanted it so much.

Just then a server entered the room, interrupting you two mid-embrace. “I’m sorry, Lord M’Baku.” He waved the waiter away and whispered in your ear, “This is going to be a very successful partnership.”You looked him in the eye and said, “are you sure you’re ready?” “A Jabari man is always ready. Be prepared.”

He was your only client now and about to be so much more.

Falling Short: M’Baku

“You are not aiming properly.” M’Baku yells from behind you. You’d been throwing the spear for the past hour aiming for the same mark and not once had it hit. And he was never lenient on anyone, especially the women. He tosses his fur to the ground watching you hold the spear improperly for the fifth time. You couldn’t get the handle set up properly. The spear slips from you hand once again and lands two feet shy of the marker.
“Y/N! It should be simple for you. Grip the spear hear.” He wrapped his hand around yours around the spear. “This gives you balance.” M’Baku’s tall statue towers over you casting a shadow. You’re appreciate as the cool breeze accompanied him blocking the sun and you get a breath of relief.
“I cannot hold it like that.” You gripe.
“You are a woman of the Jabari tribe! Cannot is not in your vocabulary.” He adjusts your stance. “Throw with more power.” He whispers. “Throw with the power of 100 warriors.”
He steps from you and you throw it once again missing your mark. The other women snicker hitting their marker easily, and rolling their eyes. You throw your hands up in defeat stepping away from the task. “I am done.” You pivot away from them walking back to your home. You would not be embarrassed.
He’s on your trail in three strides catching up to you quickly. He pulls you back to him. “You are not a quitter. ube ngumkhosi.”
You stop walking gazing up at him. “They are laughing at me.”
“You are giving them something to laugh about.” He says simply. “No make them look silly, you can do this Y/N. I believe in you.”
M’Baku leaves you standing there for a moment and you look down twiddling your thumbs. These women in the tribe were not kind. They were show offs, fierce but mean. Perhaps you could show them, you were Jabari too.
You make your way back to the practice arena gripping the spear tossing it back and forth for second. You take your time adjusting your stance and the spear flies from your hand hitting your target. M’Baku’s excited laughter is behind you in seconds and he scoops you up into his arms. “See you are a warrior.” He growls excitedly kissing you softly.

That is awesome! Thank you!

“Mercy! Mercy Hanuman mercy great Gorilla. Please. Pleeeease.” You ramble. You are secured to your bed by your hands and feet. The fur and fluffy feather filled mattress soaked from your innumerable orgasms.

“Your mouth begs me for mercy woman, but your body demands more.” M’Baku’s voice sets off another convulsion. He chuckles.

How had you gotten here?. At your husbands mercy with some strange…shaking…no what was it called. M’Baku turned the contraption up a bit and suddenly the word came to you.

VIBRATOR.

It was vibrating deep inside you hours after he returned from him trip to the outside world. He said he was returning with a gift. Not this torture. This exquisite burning get tort

“You take the pleasure so well my love. I enjoy this toy. I like how it makes you… desperate.” He chuckles low and it causes you to convulse and tighten against the silicone settled tight inside you.

My reaction to this:

Extra Credit, Part 1

jellybean531:

Setting: You, a plus-size graduate student at a top research university, have a dalliance with your professor, Dr. M’Baku, hailing from the mysterious land of Wakanda. You’ve heard of his notoriety, but weren’t expecting him to be so… passionate. He is a visiting professor and has a very special assignment just for you.

Warnings: None. This is fluffy. Your mysterious, brilliant professor is intriguing to you, but this is likely the first of many episodes.  It’s a prequel of sorts to “Diplomatic Affairs” and connected to “Coming Home”

You were very nervous as you approached the large, carved wood-paneled door. It was cracked partially open, but you weren’t sure if you arrived on time for office hours. You had heard that the professor for the Udaku-Endowed Professor for Diasporic Leadership 101 was gruff and you were intimidated. It was your first semester at this Ivy League university and you wanted to make sure you took the right classes.

Being a student at this illustrious research university was so taxing. You wore a cute, plaid tight-fitting dress and knee-high boots. You wanted to go for “student -professional,” especially as you navigated these hallowed halls. You had heard this new professor was from a remote region of a Wakanda known as Jabari-land. It sounded really distant, but you wanted to learn more, right from the source.

You approached the door to his office. His name was engraved on the door. It was just labeled “L. M’Baku, Distinguished Professor of Diasporic Leadership. The door was tall and wooden and imposing. A mask of an open-mouthed gorilla hung on the front. “Odd choice, given the stereotypes,” you thought.

Just as you went to push open the door a voice said, “No visitors.” The voice was deep and accented, but you had already stumbled into the office.

“Oh, I’m sorry” you said. “I can come back another time.”

The office took your breath away. It was full of masks and beautiful wooden sculptures. The professor had pictures of himself with King T’Challa, with heads of state, and a large picture of himself in a throne room in fur and leather, seated on a throne. You were more intimidated than before and you were caught off guard.

As you started to look around, you nearly smacked into a very tall, broad-chested man. He was stunning in a bright suit, tailored for his broad shoulders. He has the body of an ex-football player. He was very tall and wore rimless glasses. You stood in shocked, open-mouthed silence.

“I thought I said no visitors.” He said, in a deep booming voice, gently catching you at your waist and slowly turning you around.

“I’m so sorry” you said, looking down and backing away.

“Well, since you are still here, girl, what can I do for you?” His face softened and grabbed your wrist and motioned for you to sit in the throne-like wooden chair in his office as he sat on the other side of his desk, clasping his hands and peering over his glasses.

“I…I just wanted to ask about your class this semester” you said, crossing your ankles. You felt totally off-guard and unprepared.

“Come to tomorrow’s course and find out,” he said leaning against a large wooden desk. “I’ll save a seat for you.” he said, smiling. He looked intrigued and amused by your embarrassment. You stood up to leave, saving whatever grace you had left.

Thank you Dr.M’Baku. I look forward to it.” which you did, given how attractive he was, nothing like the man you envisioned.

“No need for fancy titles, but thank you-I will see you tomorrow.”

“Thank you so much, my apologies for the interruption”

You felt his eyes traveling your body. He smiled kindly with a twinkle in his eyes. “I’ll make an exception this time granted you are present tomorrow, Miss…”

“Y/N” you said.

“Miss Y/N”..have a lovely evening

“Thank you. I will” as you backed out the door. You couldn’t help but think about how stunningly charismatic your professor was. You would definitely be early to class tomorrow.

Just as you were leaving, you thought you heard him sigh and say, “Just focus on her mind, M’Baku.”

First Class

You had the hardest time finding Professor M’Baku’s course. It was up 3 flights of stairs. His course was nearly full with students lining up early. You found a separate entrance and lined up a seat on the end of the front row. You wore a form-fitting sweater dress with fur trim at the collar. It was a grayish color and you had gray tights and high ankle boots to match, trimmed with a little fur…a nod to the Jabari.

Your good friend always told you that, in order to make a good impression, you should sit in the front of class and cross your legs. Given you luscious thighs, ankles would have to do.

As you took your seat in the front and crossed your legs, you thought Professor M’Baku was stealing a glance at you. You couldn’t be sure and he was so attractive in a tailored suit and turtleneck. He physically commanded the classroom and paced back and forth. The way he stood with his hand in his pocket just distracted you so much.

“We will start now.” His booming voice called the course to attention.

There was a hush over the room. He opened his presentation with a question, “What is leadership?”

Hands flew up excitedly. “No hands, just call out”

“Power! Influence! Courage!

He smiled, working the room.

“An outdated concept” you said. He stopped and paced toward you.

What did you say?” He asked, peering at you, all of the eyes in the class on you, but his full form craning toward you.

“An outdated concept, based in hegemonic constructs of power.” you said

The room fell silent. “Do you think you are a leader?” He asked you. The hush intensified.

“Well, I am in this leadership class, so ‘yes’s, but I believe in a new way of leadership yet to be defined.”

“Interesting.” He said. “A leader who doesn’t believe in leadership in a Diaspora leadership class. You are quite the contradiction, Y/N”

“Who agrees with this?” He asks the class.

50%of the class raised their hands. You were surprised, still wondering where that answer came from. You were hoping that you had impressed him, but weren’t sue.

“Those if you who agree can stay in this course. Everyone else can leave now. You have learned your first lesson. Concepts of leadership are outdated in many ways. The old definition didn’t work for me and it won’t work for you. Goo day.”

“Those of you who agree with the young lady in the front row can stay.” Many students shuffled out of the course with groans and you were worried that you had somehow become the least popular person in your class.

“As for you, Y/N, I expect that you will see me after class.”

You felt your body get warm. You really didn’t know what to expect from Dr. M’Baku, but you were nervous. Your whole body was nervous.

After the course, you remained in your seat. A line of students who wanted to “try again” were swarming Professor M’Baku at the front of the room. He had a knowing smile on his face as he uttered, “no” and shrugged.

Once they were finished, you waited behind him, bashfully.

“Come with me, Y/N”

He dashed out the back into a faculty elevator and you ran to keep up with him. “I have a surprise for my special intruder.” You felt warm and entered his office. He closed the door behind you.

Office Hours

You turned around in his office and M’Baku closed the space between the two of you with one bound. “I need someone like you.”

Your eyes widened. “for my research,” he said. His 6′5″ frame towered above you. “What were you thinking?”

“I wasn’t sure. I did not mean to mis-speak in class earlier.”

“Have some confidence, young lady. Your ideas are the brightest I have heard in some time. I want more of that.”

You weren’t sure if he was talking about you or your body. His gaze traveled and he joked. “You would make a great Jabari woman with a figure like that. You are so smart and strong. Someday you should see my homeland.”

“I’m not sure I’m the right person for your research,” you blurted out.

“If I tell you that you should work with me, don’t question it. All of your classmates would kill for the opportunity.” he admonished you, his eyes darkening.

Despite your hesitation, something told you that you could trust him. “Thank you, Dr. M’Baku.”

“What will my body of work be?” You couldn’t believe you said that.

“Don’t ask me that. Just help me prepare before and after class. I will teach you more than you can imagine. You already have quite the body of work.”

You were thrilled with this opportunity, but also nervous. You didn’t want to let Dr. M’baku down in any way. You took a deep breath.

“Dr. M’Baku, did you need anything else from me?”

“Not right now, Y/N. You are free to go. I look forward to working with you.” He looked up only briefly. “I’ll see you back here on Monday to prepare. I’ll make arrangements with the university.”

“Thank you Dr..”

“Just M’Baku from now on. We are going to have quite the semester.”

Research Purposes

Lounging in your oversized sweats and drinking Rooibos tea, you spent your entire weekend searching for information about Dr. M’Baku. You were surprised with what you found.

As a leader of a remote Wakandan tribe, he had negotiated peace treaties with greater Wakanda. He also had honorary degrees from universities all over the world. He had met celebrities and world leaders and presided over the longest peace-time deal in East Africa. His leadership was incredible and now you were even more worried about disappointing him.

What did he want with you anyway?

Your phone rang suddenly -a number you didn’t recognize.

“Hello. It’s Y/N”

“We should have dinner tonight.” a deep, booming voice said.

“Dr. M’Baku?”

“Yes. Meet me at the vegetarian eatery 2 doors down from the faculty club. 7pm.”

“Ok. But I….”

“I’ll see you then. Good day.”

What did he want with you? you wondered. Surely this was outside the normal scope of research. The idea of seeing your gorgeous professor was very appealing, but how could you resist?

You showed up to dinner in a pair of tight jeans, and a warm sweater. It made your curves look great. You picked a fur-lined pair of boots, a nod to the professor’s Jabari origins.

You were 5 minutes early to meet up with the Professor, with notebook in hand. You weren’t sure what would happen.

There was a reservation under his name and you were seated. You were hesitant to go meatless, but M’Baku was the type of man where you felt compelled to do what he asked.

You opened your notebook and began to write a list of questions about this research assignment.

“Welcome to my happy place” a deep voice stated. You looked up and were startled. “This is your happy place?” Yes, Y/N. “

He sat down. “I trust that you know my background, yes.?”

“Well, I have been looking you up.”

“None of that describes me. Let’s get to know each other here.”

You learned of his many great victories in battle and his Wakandan alliances. His eyes lit up when he described the great Battle for Wakanda. He told you of the amazing Jabari capital and showed you pictures of the Throne Room. It was majestic in scope.

You became enthralled with his story. He was animated and re-enacting his war victories. More than that, the way his pride for Jabari-land shone through really inspired you. He was inspiring in word and action.

“Why did you take this position?” you asked.

“I needed to share my knowledge, and I’m interested in shaping a better world. T’Challa showed me mercy and as a united Wakanda, we have become a global power. We have a moral obligation to reach the diaspora.”

You were very moved by his passion. You found yourself smiling at him over the flickering candle on the table. His brown skin glowed and his eyes sparkled as he told of his great homeland.

“I miss my castle and my throne.” he said, wistfully.

“M’Baku. I’m so sorry. Why did you travel so far?”

“It was important to me to nurture other leaders…like you.” he said grbbing your hand gently.

“You are the future, Y/N and while I am here, I want to teach you what I know.”

He had tapped into your heart energy. You had no idea what you could have learned from him originally, but now you knew one thing..the two of you resonated…even vibrated on a higher level. You were getting a crush.

Extra Credit

Professor M. picked up the check and you walked outside the restaurant. There were cobblestone streets everywhere. “Will you come back for a nightcap? I would love to show you a few things.”

“I’m not sure I should,” you say. It wouldn’t be appropriate.”

He put his big hands on your shoulders and smiled at you. He smelled so good, like cocoa butter, African oils, and incredibly elegant. “Loosen up. I don’t bite..unless you ask.” he chuckled at you.
